A distinguishing feature of Kranjska Gora skiing is the varied terrain which offers quality skiing for both beginners and expert skiers. For those who enjoy nature more than speed, there are over 40 km of cross-country skiing trails. They wind all the way to the Kranjska Gora ski slopes, past the source of the Sava River, under the ski jumping hills of Planica and on to the Tamar valley. Many visitors of Kranjska Gora also enjoys in ski mountaineering and sleeding.

Planica is best known for the largest ski jumping hill in the world where new records are set almost every year. It was in Planica where the first jump over 100 m was conducted, and where later the 200 m mark was reached.
Each year the hill is prepared for new surprising resolts of Planica heroes!

Kranjska Gora and Planica are traditional hosts of World Cup events. The best Alpine skiers come to Kranjska Gora each year to compete in the Vitranc World Cup, while Planica is the famous venue for the World Cup ski jumping finals. Planica has also hosted many Ski Flying World Championships, the last in 2004, and will host them again in 2010 when the first part of the new Nordic centre will be finished.
